My name is Nick Szostakiwskyj and I’m a writer, director, and producer from Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I studied creative writing at the University of Calgary, and I took film production at the Vancouver Film School. I worked for nearly five years in the location sound department in the Vancouver film industry, mostly as a boom operator, before moving onto producing and directing.
I’ve directed countless short films, mostly in the horror genre, and I’ve directed three feature films, most notably, Black Mountain Side, which was released in 2016 in markets all over the world. I founded A Farewell To Kings Entertainment Company in 2013.
I no longer work on sets unless they’re my own. These days, I pay the bills between film projects with freelance graphic design and ghostwriting contracts. In my spare time I like to play the guitar, the drums, and I also like to draw. I live with my beautiful fiancée, Rachael, and our two dogs, Honey and Hunter.
